It has been a long time since I have communicated on this platform. I want to share a few reflections regarding this past year and the Holiday Time we are headed into.
There has been a lot of transition and change in my world and my work. I imagine others feel the same. It is as if the ground I once took for granted is starting to shift, change, move, and be less trustworthy. I am reminded of the feeling of walking down a flight of stairs in the dark—cautiously probing for the next landing.
This year has left me unsettled and relieved. It is unsettling to not know what I will discover as I seek clarity in new relationships, new fields of work, new societal norms. And there is a sense of relief as I deepen my relationships, and experiment with work that is gratifying and meaningful. And I sense something important and complex as our society shifts. There seems to be a greater hunger for knowing and sharing what is true. I am curious about how that might change the conversations I have with people.
As I head into a time where connection with family and community is primary, I have profound gratitude for the people who are a part of my community, my village, my family. I am awed by the beauty and messiness of our collective story. I don't want to take for granted the incredible gifts I have received through my engagement with the people closest to me. They are the landing upon which I can trust my full weight.
And for you, I hope you find meaningful connection with your people and a sense of gratitude for all of your gifts.
I am curious to see what 2018 has in store for us!
